Preview of the Brand New Conquest Season—Decisive Battle of Yiling (Part 2)

2024/08/02

Greetings, mighty Lords!
Suddenly a wave of heat came, following the solar term of Minor Heat. As the dog days have arrived, with heat and humidity combined, please remember to alternate work with rest, avoid the heat, and nurture your health for longevity, my Lords. Previously, we have introduced the Season Intro of the new season "Decisive Battle of Yiling" to all Lords. This time, we will detail the brand new terrain-related feature of this season for you.

[National Pass, Important Place of Xiangxi]
The King of Han, bearing the title of Emperor, led the people of Ba and Han, seizing the opportunity in times of peril, establishing camps over a thousand miles, with the ambition to avenge Guan Yu's defeat and seize the land of Xiangxi. And our Lord Lu also suffered a setback at Xiling, his army defeated and in dire straits, ultimately meeting his end at Yong'an.

—Lu Ji's Essay on Reasons for the Fall

In this season, we will introduce a brand new resource state. To align with historical accuracy, the state will be renamed from the previous Jingbei to [Xiangxi], which includes the original Nan Commandery of Jingzhou and Nanyang Commandery, with Yiling as its state capital. Meanwhile, Xiangxi will have a new stage [Guangcheng], which directly leads to Sili:

[Rely on Highlands, Seek Paths to Attack]
Navigate barriers and defend strategic heights. In this season, we will introduce a brand new terrain [Highland]. Cliffs of displacement will be formed between highlands and flatlands, making territories on either side of the cliffs non-adjacent. Troops cannot be garrisoned across the cliffs, and passage between highlands and flatlands is only possible via slopes.

Compared to territories on flatlands, those on highlands will gain brand new territory effects. First, buildings on highlands can gain extra supply range and range of vision, though supply range cannot cross cliffs of displacement. Secondly, highlands offer greater combat advantages; troops departing from highlands will gain extra morale buffs when engaging troops from flatlands. However, it should also be noted that Fortresses, Large Fortresses, and Scout Camps cannot be constructed on highlands.
In order to enhance flatlands' resistance against highlands, we will also introduce a brand new building [Ladder] this season. Ladders can only be constructed on flatlands on one side of the cliffs. Once built, they allow troops to march to the highlands on the other side of the cliffs. Individual Strong Assault Tactics will also be added in this season. Even without implementing a Kingdom Policy for a Strong Assault, you can use an Individual Strong Assault: troops on highlands can launch a Strong Assault Tactic to strike nearby flatlands. This strike will not enable them to occupy the territory.

   [Wooden Palisade Garrisoning, Burning Camps]
Liu Bei led his troops eastward in a rapid advance, establishing a hundred-mile-long camp with great momentum all the way to Yiling. A brand new building [Wooden Palisade Camp] will also be added in this season. Wooden Palisade Camps, like Fortresses, can accommodate troops and appoint Military Staff, with lower construction costs, and can also be constructed on highlands:

Besides, Draft in Wooden Palisade Camps can directly use Main City Reservists, thus Wooden Palisade Camps have the ability to quickly replenish troops. However, Wooden Palisade Camps cannot be upgraded and shared with allies, so please be noted, my Lord.

When a Wooden Palisade Camp is within the adjacent range of other allied Wooden Palisade Camps, it gains the Linked Camps effect. All Wooden Palisade Camps under the same Linked Camps effect not only share adjacent supply ranges, but also additionally reduce their troop draft time. For each additional Wooden Palisade Camp in the Linked Camps, draft time is further reduced by 2%, up to 40%.
In this season, the Wooden Palisade Camp will become a crucial tool for Lords in field fights, but it also has a fatal weakness. The [Fire Attack] Tactic will also be added in this season. Lords can consume 1 Decree to dispatch troops to implement the Fire Attack Tactic. Upon the first victory in battle, it can deal Fire Attack damage to up to 5 enemy troops on the land tile. More importantly, if the Fire Attack targets a Wooden Palisade Camp and successfully deals Durability damage to it, the camp's territory will catch fire. The Durability of the camp will continue to decrease, and the troops on the territory will suffer continuous Strength damage from the fire. The Wooden Palisade Camp itself is also flammable. If a territory is on fire for more than 5 minutes, the adjacent Wooden Palisade Camp's territory will also catch fire.

High and low terrain will engage in attacks across cliffs and narrow passes, with troops maneuvering and fires destroying linked camps. The battlefield is ever-changing, so please make a prudent decision on whether to attack or defend, my Lords. Stay tuned for more previews regarding the season of Decisive Battle at Yiling.
