INFINITE BORDERS 10th Anniversary Spring Significant Update: Preview of Brand New Conquest Season "Snow Halberd and Ice Spear" (Part II)
2025/04/07
Greetings, mighty Lords!
Our previous Snow Halberd and Ice Spear preview provided a basic understanding of the new season. Today, we’ll dive into the details on Ice Cities, Bonfires, and adjustments to siege this season.
[Use the Terrain to Your Advantage, Let the Cold Fuels Your Conquest]
A skilled warlord uses the circumstances he is in to his advantage.
—Records of the Grand Historian - Biographies of Sun Wu and Wu Qi
Amidst the relentless snow and wind, the Thirteen States of INFINITE BORDERS have entered a "Cold" state this season. All the rivers will freeze, allowing them to be assailed, occupied, and crossed over via adjacent land. Under these conditions, while cities remain warm by default, military facilities like fortresses in cold zones cannot draft troops.
As the saying goes, "misfortune may prove to be a blessing in disguise." Adapting to circumstances is the hallmark of great strategists, so turn the blizzards to your advantage! Lords can exploit the cold to freeze water instantly to quickly construct Ice Cities. These cities can draft troops normally despite the cold and dispatch hired workers to train reservists to swiftly replenish stationed troops for prolonged battles in the wild.
[Bonfire Burns Through Winter, Advance or Retreat]
Laid a solid foundation in the conquest to rule the world. Advance to deliver the final blow, retreat to consolidate your defense.
—Records of the Three Kingdoms - Biography of Xun Yu
This season, with the entire map in perpetual cold, bonfires can dispel the ice and snow to bring warmth to the surrounding areas. This makes them a crucial defense against the chill. Beyond this, their warmth enables land development, allowing for the construction of settlements, quarries, granaries, banking houses, and other buildings to help you establish vital supply camps beyond the city borders.

Bonfire Buildings are constructed around a Bonfire. If the Bonfire is demolished, the surrounding buildings will remain but become ineffective in the freezing cold. At the same time, Sub-cities will be removed this season. Building a Bonfire and occupying 8 adjacent lands will allow for Relocation. Border Towns can still be constructed and will inherit multiple buildings from the Main City, including the Barracks, Warrior Battalion, and Strategy Battalion.
Bonfires not only bring flexibility in terms of planning but also introduce many new tactical and strategic possibilities. Given that bonfires can raise the surrounding temperature to a "Warm" state, they can also be used to melt frozen rivers. By waiting for the right moment, rivers can thaw to form natural barriers, forcing enemies to either take long detours or risk engaging in a head-on battle to dismantle the Bonfire. In addition, Bonfires will also gradually melt Ice Cities, cutting off the enemy's supply lines and seizing the initiative in war. The building and demolishing of Bonfires will become a strategic focus for the new season.
[Gather the Mighty Army, Surround and Capture the City]
When troops gather like mountains, they strike like thunder and no cities can stand in their wake.
— Wei Liaozi - Attack Initiative
The cold has arrived suddenly and the undercurrents are stirring. This Season some cities will dispatch Escorts to guard them. Siege attempts will face resistance from the City Escorts. Lords will have to decide whether to destroy the Escorts first before laying siege on cities, or wait for the chance to launch a full blown offensive. No matter what, defeating Escorts will reward Lords with a certain amount of resources and Coins.
Escort Camp
This Season, besides the presence of Escort Camps around cities, there will be a brand new building called the "Siege Fortress." This building allows Guild members to easily join in city sieges. When a Guild occupies a Siege Fortress, Lords can consume decrees to dispatch Troops to rally at the Siege Fortress before going on the offensive. Siege Fortresses are activated by the Guild Chief and Commanders. Once activated, the Troops in the fortress will automatically march and siege without their Lord's input.
